Hello and welcome to our first QbizUK Newsletter. Today I want to share some thoughts about BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers) a Natural Language Processing (NLP) model developed by Google. I want to share with you two articles that will help you know if BERT is the right thing for you and how it compares with GPT models.
Mastering BERT: A Comprehensive Guide from Beginner to Advanced in Natural Language Processing (NLP)
This article is great for Data Scientists who want to learn how to use an NLP model, but also good for project managers who want to understand better the process behind implementing a Large Language Model (LLM) and want to develop accurate goals in their teams.
GPT vs BERT: Which is Better?
It is impossible to talk about BERT without mentioning ChatPT these days. That is why this article which compares BERT with the GPT model is a great way to understand what is best for your use case. Spoiler alert: The GPT paid version is better performing, however, BERT is open-source and not a black-box environment.
Probably one of the main questions for anyone reading this is when should I use BERT and When should I use GPT models from OpenAI. The answer is it depends.
If you do not care about how the model generates results and what OpenAI will do with the data once you enter it into the models (which they probably will use to train further models) then you can use a paid version of the OpenAI API.
However, if you want to develop your own in-house model, without having to pay for an API, and also have a better understanding of feature importance and make sure that everything the model sees stays private then BERT might be a better choice.
At Qbiz UK We specialize in leveraging data to extract valuable insights and make informed decisions. Our team of Data Scientists, engineers, and analysts can help you build a robust and scalable data infrastructure that can handle the volume, velocity, and variety of modern data. We can also help you train and deploy new product features based on Machine Learning models, and present complex data in a visually compelling manner.
